At the Gamefest 2008 Microsoft Game Technology Conference today, Microsoft announced a new feature that will be released alongside the new XBox dashboard this fall: Community Games.
Community games is a place where user developed games can be browsed and purchased by XBox LIVE subscribers. Developers will be able to submit their creations, which will be priced within a range of 200 to 800 Microsoft Points, and then collect up to 70% of the profit their game generates. This is along with the ~$100ish yearly fee that a developer has to pay to be eligible.
This is very exciting news for homebrew game developers, and I can't wait to see what some people get up there. Perhaps even our own Cats Of Thondor could now see an XBox release? One day... one day...
