The Cats of Thondor love Star Wars. The Cats of Thondor love Lord of the Rings. We think of them as equals; we don't discriminate. Both series were extremely well-made and became two of the largest movie franchises ever to grace the big screen. But let's imagine for a moment... what if Frodo and his hobbit posse decided to clash swords against the force powers of Jedi? Sorry Frodo, but I'm pretty sure the force would come out as the victor. That was proved correct this past weekend. TNT and Spike TV decided to have a friendly little feud. TNT aired the entire Lord of the Rings saga and Spike fought back by airing the first three episodes of Star Wars, with Episode III: Revenge of the Sith being a television premiere. (Not to mention Spike TV will be presenting Star Wars: Episodes IV, V, VI this coming weekend to finish out the series.) Both channels pulled in huge amounts of viewers, but in the end Anakin, Yoda, and all their young padawans triumphed over Frodo's hobbits.

Yes, fanboys rejoice, Stars Wars did indeed come out on top. The lightsaber wielding Jedi drew in an average of close to a million more viewers than Frodo and his magical ring. Episode I: Phantom Menance drew in an astonishing estimate of 2.8 million viewers, however was trumped by even more stunning numbers when Episode III: Revenge of the Sith aired on Sunday night. So Spike TV wins this time around (aka: there are a lot more wannabe Jedi masters than wannabe mythical orc slayers).

Max comments, The Hobbit movie (No, not that awesome animated adventure of years past) has actually been rumored for a while, however there have been some issues over the director. IMDB has Guillermo del Toro listed as the current director. We hope they replace Smaug with the pale man, and maybe Hellboy can make a cameo as Gollum!

George Lucas is also working on his Clone Wars project and a Live Action series for his obsessive Star Wars following. We can only hope "The Hobbit" movie rumor will come true so that there is someone to combat the overwhelming masses of Jedi hopefuls.
