Here's a little spin off of the famed Geometry Wars shooter. Vector Wars in made in Flash and brings concept to a smaller level. I was pleased to hear that they chose not to take away the hot techno background music. Vector Wars consists of mostly the same types of enemies and ideas. The graphics and sounds effects are obviously toned down, creating an absence of the large impressive particle systems (which we love). In the settings you can adjust the amount of particles per collision though.
The flash rendition isn't entirely bad. High scores are posted to the public site and familiar enemies will make their appearance in the game. The green squares and the snakes maneuver the same way as they do in Geometry Wars, though a bit more sluggish (However the snakes move at 90 degree angles instead of sporadic curving patterns.). The gravity wells were also left out of the game, which immensely adds to the challenge of the original game. The amount of units on the screen at one time has also been limited; you don't need to be worried about be chased by 50-100 guys at a time like you would in the Geometry Wars. You get big bombs that will clear out the entire screen also, but it does so in a less impressive fashion. They did attempt some blurring and coloring effects to the background canvas as the enemies move around the screen.
The main downfall is just the lack of intense, action-packed energy that the original game has. Additionally, you don't get the rapid fire upgrade that is so helpful in Geometry Wars (at least I didn't live long enough to get it). Without appropriate sounds and abundance of enemies on screen, the flash version falls short of depicting the true essence that is, Geometry Wars.
