Ryan Clements from IGN.com visited the premiere party for Final Fantasy XIII and naturally got to indulge in a playable demo that us normal people can't access yet.

The game features a main character named Lightning (not exactly what I expected as a main character's name, but Square-Enix has a cunning way of always making me like their obscure names in the end). The demo featured finalized CG sequences that introduces the player to two scenarios in the game, both at different points in the game.

The game features two new systems, the Optima System and the Paradigm System. These allow you to set AI controlled sequences for your other characters in battle. Also a new system is integrated in the Summoning aspect of battles called the Gestalt System, where the selected player is "combined" with the summon.

Lastly, the premiere also featured a new trailer for Final Fantasy XIII, however it has not been released online yet.
