Not to long ago, word was spread that there would be a large announcement about FFVII on the blu-ray release of Advent Children. You can read the whole (short) story here.
Well some more news has popped up recently. In a recent 1UP podcast, one of the employees who has apparently been speaking with a Square Enix representitive let it slip that Square is about to "swing the ball" back to Sony, after swinging it to Microsoft with the announcement of FFXIII at E3. The article then speculates that this announcement will happen at Square Enix's Japan event in 2 weeks.
With the recent announcement of Chrono Trigger for the DS, FFVII is, hopefully, up next. Honestly, I expected this sooner, as the general consensus regarding a remake is "DO WANT". Better late then never, I suppose.
