DirectX
Along with the Community Games announcement today, Microsoft also anounced its next generation 3D API, DirectX 11.

DirectX 11, like version 10, is supported by Windows Vista only, and will be compatible with all your DirectX 10/10.1 and previous software. The article also states that version 11 will add new features to version 10, but know one is sure what yet.

New features include tessellation -- a technology that can improve visual quality of lower quality models, a new shader technology that allows developers to use the GPU for things other than graphics... acting as another processor, among other less exciting things.

But I will let you decide for yourself. Read the Shacknews Article here.
